Another adoption update

24 09 2011

I hope to have another one tomorrow, when all is said and done at the fairgrounds, but for now, a quick note to let ya’ll know how really well the adoption went today.

All the foals were adopted and have gone to new homes.

A few horses are waiting at the fairgrounds for pickup in the morning, and we think we’ll have at least one other adopted then.

Just five horses – Iya (3, filly), Baylee (4, filly), Liberty (2, filly), Milagro (2, colt) and Pinon (3, colt) – still need homes, so if you’re at all conflicted, you have until tomorrow morning to decide (the earlier you can get there, the better; we’ll start tearing down at 8 a.m.). Those horses will then go to Canon City, where you also may adopt them at a later date.

Thank you so much to the folks who adopted our Spring Creek Basin mustangs! Please keep in touch and let us know how you’re getting along!

Many thanks again to Fran, Lona and Ted from Canon City, and to our own Tom Rice and Ann Bond, who were there all day (and yesterday).

Wild Bunch … couldn’t do it without you … Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Ponies … we love you, will miss you, know you will be loved still.

That’s GREAT news! We are so thankful to all who have adopted these beautiful babies! We will miss them, but are comforted knowing they will be loved and cared for as if we had taken them home ourselves. A HUGE Thank You to EVERYONE who cared enough to help both the horses and the people who love them get through this process. TJ – “You done good!”

TJ, it was such a pleasure to meet you in the “real world”. I was so impressed by how you and so many others who love the SCB Mustangs kept your composure, dispite the stress and sorrow of seeing them leave your care. I hope at least some of the adopters will keep you updated on their progress. Big hugs! Linda

Thanks and so nice to meet you, too! We have some awesome folks – BLM and Wild Bunch. Couldn’t have done any of this without every single person involved. I’m so grateful to them for their passion and commitment.

I should have mentioned the folks from the BLM. I had brief, but cordial and productive conversations with several of them. Fran seems like a great gal. I was impressed when she insisted Spook be removed from the pen with Two Boots(?), before there was an injury. I’m happy someone adopted Spook, and I’m sure she’ll settle down now she’s away from that stressful atmosphere.

OOPS! Isn’t Fran a guy? I was talking about the woman with the blond, shoulder-length hair. Sorry.

Yes. 🙂 Lona is the blond woman who was helping people with their adoption applications. She’s awesome. And you may have meant Two Boots as looking so thin and depressed … Iya is her younger sister – she was in with Ember and Sable. She actually looked pretty good except the scrapes on her face from the processing. Two Boots did find a great home.

Oh how I wish I could adopt Liberty! But I am sure she will find a a wonderful home today! Speaking of auctions, the GH pony auction was yesterday…I wasn’t able to attend but another photographer did and she is reporting that one pony sold for only $10! 😛

Liberty’s such a sweet girl, I would have sworn someone would fall in love with her. But not to be – right now anyway. On your side, I hope someone’s $10 investment returns a million-fold to that new owner?! No minimum bid there like with the mustangs, eh?

Thanks for such positive news and POSITIVE reporting on this herd so many others are focused on the negative only. instead of what can be done in a positive manner thanks again.

We stay positive because we’ve seen the results of offering solutions and partnership with BLM. It is paying off in big ways for our horses. Thanks!
