Surprise sighting

3 01 2026

On the last day of 2025, I found Chipeta and her family. I was pretty happy; I hadn’t seen hide nor hair of them for about two-some months. They’ve been back in their familiar territory, and with a fall-rain-filled water source there, they’ve been comfy-cozy out of the limelight. Very nice to get out to spend time with them.

So glad you found her, TJ! And glad you caught a photo of her to show us! I’m always amazed at the little hidden pockets of paradise complete with water that exist out there in the Basin and how clever the mustangs are in finding them.

I’m glad that even in a small place like Spring Creek Basin, there are places where they can avoid humans if they so desire. πŸ™‚ “The little hidden pockets of paradise …” Exactly! And they *for sure* know where to find the water!

LOTS of times, I’ve asked mustangs where so-and-so or band is. … They know how to keep secrets. πŸ™‚
