One does wonder why the world needs gnats! The wind does help a lot. 🙂 But when the breeze drops at the end of the day, that head net is a huge blessing!
Not the deer flies as I know them from Texas – nasty bitey stingy things?! We have the gnats … and biting black flies (they seem to go for the ankles – don’t wear shorts) … and mosquitoes sometimes … and these crazy BIG black things – like flies on steroids that buzz and land directly on top of the horses’ backs and rumps. The horses HATE those and try to kick and roll and anything else to get rid of them.
Ugh. My sympathies. I remember riding with terrible deer flies at my grandparents’ in Ohio. … I rigged a head net for my horse! Those were the days before fly masks. 🙂
Even while marauded by “buglets” he is still one gorgeous boy, the star of the show!
Too true. 🙂
He is very gorgeous, indeed!
Isn’t he amazing?!
Ahhh the dreaded gnats that drive humans and horses to shake their heads.
The wind helps, but they are buggy little buggies!
Boy, I really feel for them. Going on my morning walks is very similar. I wear a net with my hat. 😄
I’m totally a head-net aficionado! It’s the only thing that works! You still have to deal with the buzzing, but at least they can’t get to you.
All part of the natural world- darn it ! Hopefully a good wind will keep them at bay 🙂

Do they have to fight Deer Flies?

We have evil deer flies here 🥺
