You meet the cutest critters while wandering through Spring Creek Basin! This coyote critter was both curious and brave – more so than its sibling.
From first sighting – two pups playing outside the den – to the time I left was about three minutes. Whew – didn’t want to get between parents and babies!

Adorable! What a precious face–and experience! Wildness in the basin…
In wildness is the preservation … of our sanity and faith in the parts of the world not so wild. π
It looks about 8-9 weeks. Are coyote dams generally aggressive if someone wanders past the den?
I don’t know, but I didn’t want to find out. More importantly, I didn’t want to disrupt their security and denning by my insensitivity at blundering upon their home (which was right off a horse trail I was following at the edge of an arroyo) and then overstaying my welcome! π
You absolutely did the right thing! No surprise there! Nice photo – framing, layering, eyes… well done!
I am so happy to see this baby face. And knowing there’s more in that nearby den just brings a relief and a smile. Thank you, TJ. π
Looks like a fox to me.
