Gemma was particularly photogenic during my last visit. I caught them right at the end of the day, and though my beloved Grey stayed in the shadows of the wide arroyo, Gemma had her time in the sunshine.
Gemma, Brumley Point in the background. From this side, her color is “mud.” She’s the fastest-greying foal I’ve seen in Spring Creek Basin – she’s much greyer already than her yearling sister, Terra.
Climbing into the light …
… followed by her loyal shadow.
Mama Houdini, very wise old girl.
And a last one of Gemma, halo’d by the very last light of the day …

Stunning light! Great group of shots here!
that lighting is lovely and what a pretty backdrop
Last light of day … it just lights up the basin like you wouldn’t believe! And it makes the ponies look fabulous!
Your shots of Houdini are a story all by themselves – she’s an incredible example of what the term “Earth Mother” really means. Really like the ‘more artistic/creative’ photos of late!! Love what you see and feel and how you capture it all! Great job!

She’s definitely an important thread in the basin’s fabric of life!
finally, a muddy horse! your horses always look so clean, it’s good to see one as dirty as my arab out there.
good job with the mud bath cutie!
Ha – they’re often muddy! Sometimes just on one side, though. Washed with rainwater, dried by sunshine!
