Baby No. 2!
Shadow and her little man. Yes, he’s a colt!
Mama Shadow, baby boy, daddy David.
If I didn’t know better, I’d think baby was just a few days old, but according to my source, who saw him last weekend, he’s close to a week old. Going to be bay, I think – has a tall left hind stocking, but that appears to be his only marking.
Baby was trying to nurse, but Shadow wasn’t being very accommodating.
But he kept trying. š
“I’m sure the goods are in here somewhere!”
Just a quick visit – we had some other visitors – but mom and baby look terrific!
It was a fantastic “weekend”! I saw all the horses.Ā Luna-girl is big as ever but not sharing secrets. š Things were quite a bit quieter this week. Despite the snow we had earlier this week, it’s dry in the basin. Water is actually flowing in a trickle through an arroyo that may be the main Spring Creek, but at least two ponds are totally dry, and at least another is going to be dry in a day or two. The parched earth has/is soaked/soaking up all the moisture we get!
More to come.

We must all be asking the great Spirit for rains this summer… mar
He’s sooooo sweet and a bay – yeah! He seems so small – is that because Shadow always “looked” small to us?? He’s a blessing… Is there anything we can do to help with the water situation besides a little of our own little prayers and “rain dances???” Oh, welcome little one – you have a great mum and dad so, go play and explore!!!
Lynn and Kathy
It seems weird to be asking for rain after all the snow we had this winter … but yeah, we need it, especially out there in the Disappointment Valley region. He does look small, but he’s her first foal, so better that than too big. He looks plenty healthy, though!
All together now … dance! š
YEAH! Shadow had her baby!!! I’m sooo excited! What are you going to name him?
Isn’t he cute? š I asked the man who first found them if he’d like to name the baby. He said it was really windy that day (like it is frequently in the basin), so he named him Wind! Very appropriate!
Beautiful baby! Beautiful momma! Beautiful ponies all around! š I never tire of looking at those magnificent creatures of nature.
TJ – Updates on Chrome?
You and me both! Chrome and his little band are doing very well. I saw them from a distance last week, and Two Boots isn’t due to have her next foal until mid-May, so I didn’t check on them closely. He’s a good stepdaddy – watchful and protective.
I can’t wait until Two Boots has her foal! Then Chrome will have a stepdaughter or son! Lol! I simply love Chrome and his band. I would love to one day see him in person…. And his band, too. That would be wonderful!!!!
VC – I’ll keep a “guide slot” open for you. š Seriously, you’re welcome any time! Two Boots should have her next foal in May … Hopefully I’ll get a closer look at them this week and have some pix for you!
