May’s offerings (this is when it gets really tough):
Note: This photo of Grey/Traveler also will be a contender for the calendar’s cover photo.
I’m so sorry, but you see my terrific problem! How absolutely impossible are the ponies making this?? I thought I had the easy end of this bargain, picking a few from each month, but May was incredible! I knew this was a fantastic year with the horses, but photographic evidence says it was fantastic times 100!
Keep in mind that some of the horses will appear twice or more in the choices (Grey/Traveler appeared four times in my 2009 calendar – including on the cover – three times in 2010!), but I’d like to at least attempt to have a variety of horses. For example, I’m fairly certain a pic of Gideon and ‘Nona together will show up in August …

This is difficult. May is a rather sleepy month so Gideon, Luna and Butch add a different perspective but the beautiful spring yellow flowers along with baby Rio make Two Boots & Rio the perfect May…
TJ, if you make this any harder I be certifiable! I’m torn between Kestral & Nona and Two Boots & Rio. I’d be thrilled with either photo, so I’m chickening out on this one.
Okay, I’ve shed my feathers in favor of Kestrel and ‘Nona. Sorry about misspelling your names, you beautiful girls!
And, unless you put up a knock-my-socks-off photo of another horse, I’m for Grey/Traveler on the cover. Maybe an inside page as well, so I could marvel at his beauty all month long!
It was a hard decision, but I’m going with Kestrel & ‘Nona, nap.
The Grey/Traveler photo will definately need to included somewhere in the calender! For May, my choice would be Two Boots & Rio. I love the sentiment and the yellow flowers are great.
This is to hard. Maybe Gideon, Luna, and Butch. Any one would be great.
Grey/Traveler is my choice. He is classic to the herd and a long timer. Great picture with action.
Kestrel and ‘Nona, nap shows the spring green!
Ha – please don’t chicken out … that’s what *I’M* doing! 🙂
I have at least one other photo in mind for the cover … and picking between the two is going to be a doozy, I think. The other pic will be coming up in September’s selections. It HAS been on the blog, but I don’t think this one of Grey/Traveler was for some reason. Not to give undue influence, but it has been the “desktop” picture of my laptop since I got it earlier this year.
I SOOOO continue to appreciate all your help!
Geez, you really did it this time! We’re splitting our votes on this month. I like Kestrel and Winona (too bad, “Grandma Luna” couldn’t be in the same shot, but it IS supposed to be about Mama and Baby and this photo tells such a sweet story. Lynn
Kathy likes Tenaz because he’s looking at you with such innocent interest and attitude, as if saying, “What’s up?” (Besides, she likes the translation of his name. It fits the look!) Second choice Kestrel and Winona.
Both of us would love to see this shot of Grey somewhere!!!
Oh my, this is hard! Especially since it’s some of my favourites. Winona and Gideon have been two of my favourite foals from the start, even though I love them all. The photo with Gideon, Luna and Butch was my background for some time, I just love how they are all standing asleep in a line. But Rio and Two Boots is just adorable, with Rio all curled up and the flowers everywhere. And Tenaz’s expression is great, and he’s surrounded by family. I love all these photos. But I’m going to have to go with Two Boots and Rio. I think it shows the mother-foal relationship, and since this is the beginning of the spring it shows that, too with the flowers and Rio being so small.
So there it is, Two Boots and Rio.
Great comments! I love to know some of the reasons behind your picks. I love to know YOUR connections with THEM! 🙂
I can’t decide in this one… you’re right-they’re perfect posers!
I also agree that it’s so much fun to see people’s picks!
I love this :]
this is my bday month also!! I love the one of Tenaz he has such a wonderful look on the face. thats my pick even though it was very hard
I singled out the photo of Tenaz because he was singled out by the camera and just called to me. Great shot. Again, a difficult vote with all the others. You need to publish a book.
Katherine – perfect! That’s exactly what I was going for with his family all around him, calm, heads down grazing – him looking out with curiosity.
Gideon, Luna & Butch. This is the hardest one so far. I love the one with
Tenaz. This is a great pic. The look on his face is awesome. I hate to think alot of the horses will be gone in a few years because of a roundup. Can you see if we can get the BLM to use their names when the adoptions take place so we can find them. I would love to make sure some of us get a chance to give theses special horses a great home.
Kestrel & ‘Nona, nap
