Shades of Grey

28 03 2010

From my visit with Steeldust’s band, I spotted Grey/Traveler and his mare, Houdini, and their daughter, Terra. They were closer than I had seen them in several visits, so I took the opportunity to walk out for a visit.

You can’t see the girl’s big belly too well in this one, though, so how about this view:

Not toooooo bulgey yet … but she has at least a month to go. 🙂

Love to “capture” their faces.

Also love to photograph them against the (La Sal) mountains!

My gorgeous, high-desert boy, sleepy in the sunshine.

Gosh, look how BIG Terra is!!! That face is so unique – hasn’t changed at all! Houdini’s obviously been a good Mom! Your portrait of Grey is the best we’ve ever seen and you’ve done so many great shots! He’s BEAUTIFUL, ELEGANT, STRONG – WOW!!
Great job!
Be there soon!

Nicole, be sure you quote your sources of those numbers. BLM’s own numbers regarding numbers of wild horses (total, in short- and long-term holding, and in the wild varies by a few thousand horses depending on the date, who you ask and what they had for breakfast. The reality is, no one really knows how many wild horses are out there.

Thanks soo much for the information. This speech was so hard to write becuse i kept trying to turn it into a persuasive one and its just an informal one. I still think taht it will have some impact on some people becuase they are all younger and really love the animals and i think they understand why they should stay around. I hope all is well and thanks again for all the information i learned a lot!!

I saw a horse that looked like the sand wash mares today, and thought of you :]
How’s shadow?

Rochlia – I didn’t see Shadow during my last visit (one of only three I didn’t see). She and David can be elusive, but I will be watching for her this spring because I think she’s going to have a foal. I’ll keep you posted!

Should be very soon now that we start seeing our first babies this year …! 🙂
